A: We offer comprehensive services for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families. These services are outlined in the Services section of this website.
Q: Does The Arc of Monroe County provide services to children with intellectual and other developmental disabilities?
A: We provide services to eligible children in Service Coordination, Special Sitters, Community Residential Habilitation, and Cash Reimbursement programs. However, individuals must be 18 years old to live in our residences and a minimum of 21 years old to utilize our other programs and services.
Q: How do I know if my family member is eligible to receive services?
A: Individuals must meet the eligibility requirements as outlined by The New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) in order to enroll in the programs and services offered at The Arc of Monroe County. Q: How do I know which service(s) will best meet our needs?
A: During your initial conversations with our Administrator for Community Outreach and Enrollment, you will be asked to provide background information regarding the skills, needs, and desires of the individual seeking services. We have a wealth of services to meet the needs of you and your family, and we’ll work cooperatively with the individual’s circle of support to ensure that the individual’s needs are met. If at any point the individual’s needs change, we will work cooperatively to explore alternatives.
Q: Do I have to get all my services from The Arc of Monroe County?
A: No. We believe in educating families about the services we offer, so that individuals and their families are able to secure appropriate and beneficial services that meet their specific needs.
Q: Is there a waiting list to access your services?
A: This varies from program to program. That’s why it’s important to contact contact our Administrator for Community Outreach and Enrollment at 585-730-6038 once you have identified a need for services, to learn about the availability of services.
Q: How much do services cost?
A: The cost of services is funded for 99% of eligible individuals, through Medicaid, the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD), Social Security, and other government resources. In the event that an individual is determined ineligible for funding, alternative forms of payment may be explored.
