Rochester, NY (June 3, 2008)- The Arc of Monroe County’s Dream It, Do It program has granted another dream, this time a shared dream between two Arc individuals. Moises King and Marty Bollweg share a dream, to have their art displayed in a real exhibit and to be recognized in the community for their work. The Arc of Monroe’s Dream It, Do It program has selected to make their shared dream come true this summer. The exhibit, titled “Into the Wild,” will open on June 10 and continues through June 30.
“This is exactly what Dream It, Do It is all about,“ said Steve Chartrand CEO of The Arc Foundation. “Moises and Marty share a dream to be viewed in the community as tried and true artists with a vision they express artfully. All we provided was a space for them to showcase their work, they have put forth the effort and courage to share it.”
King, 40, is originally from Brooklyn, New York and has resided in Rochester for 13 years. Primarily a self-taught artist, King specializes in prehistoric creatures, modern animals and landscape. His inspiration comes from his childhood visits to various museums. He became fascinated with the bones and shapes and through his art he strives to capture and bring them to life. King is employed at a local art store and resides in Rochester.
Bollweg, 43, is a graduate of Greece Athena High School. Specializing in landscapes, Bollweg’s primary medium is acrylics. Dabbling in art while growing up, Bollweg’s passion for painting strengthened when he received an art kit from his girlfriend a few years ago, as a gift. He started painting watching Bob Ross’s television series, and hasn’t been able to put his brush down. Since then, he has developed his own skill and is able to work with his imagination, drawing inspiration from nature, especially waterfalls and pine trees.
Spearheaded by The Arc Foundation of Monroe and a team of area community volunteers, Dream It, Do It aims to encourage and inspire all individuals with developmental disabilities residing in the Rochester area to think beyond their daily experiences and to dream beyond their expectations. A team of area leaders is working as part of an advisory board to fulfill these dreams for developmental disabled individuals.
