The Arc hires a New Health & Wellness Coordinator
Rochester, N.Y. (September 7, 2010)- The Arc of Monroe County, working with and for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families providing services and programs, recently hired Elissa Strassman, Registered Dietitian, as Health and Wellness Coordinator. In this new role, Strassman is responsible for designing, coordinating and implementing agency-wide health and wellness initiatives and programs directed toward employees and individuals supported by The Arc.
 
“Elissa’s position was created out of our re-focused strategy and mission,” said Barbara Wale, president and CEO of The Arc of Monroe County. “She is a great addition to our team and will help us excite and engage our staff and individuals about The Arc’s new health and wellness initiatives.”
 
Strassman joins The Arc of Monroe after spending nearly three years at SUNY Oswego Auxiliary Services as a Registered Dietitian. She managed menu planning, purchasing, marketing and recipe development, in addition to nutritional analysis, education and outreach. She earned her Associates degree in Music from Monroe Community College and she continued on to earn her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics and completed her Dietetic Internship at Ohio State University.
 
Strassman is an active member of the American Dietetic Association, NYS Dietetic Association and serves on the board of the Genesee Dietetic Association. She resides in Rochester.
